10 Ways to Find MOTIVATION to Workout

Motivation can be the hardest thing to find after having a baby. I was always motivated to workout before baby. I was addicted to the post workout endorphin rush and how I could physically see my body getting stronger. I expected to feel the same way after Tucker was born. Except this was not the case. I was thrown so many curveballs and my biggest problem was FATIGUE. How was I going to workout when I was this tired and juggling a newborn? Here's my advice.
  1. Routine- Workout at the same time everyday. When your baby naps, when you first wake up, before you go to bed. Whatever works best for YOU.
  2. Put your workout gear on- Just putting on athletic clothes starts getting you mentally ready. Invest in more athletic gear, I know i'm always excited to wear a new top or new shoes.
  3. Have fun- When I workout I get bored very fast especially if I do the same sets over and over. So change it up! Find types of exercise you enjoy doing. I like working out and trying to make Tucker laugh. It always puts a smile on my face and it is rewarding.
  4. Set goals- At the beginning of the week make detailed goals about how many times/length you are going to workout.  Start SMALL. Make goals that are achievable.
  5. Reward yourself- Every month that I follow my exercise routine I reward myself with new athletic clothing.
  6. Accountability- Whether it's a friend, your children, or partner find someone to hold you accountable. For me my instagram is great accountability. It keeps me motivated to post new videos which in turn motivates me to workout.
  7. Positive Self Talk- I am a huge believer in this. When you flood your brain with positive thoughts it changes the way you think. Get in a routine of telling yourself -I CAN DO IT- and after each workout tell yourself GOOD JOB!
  8. Post Workout Endorphins- You will never regret working out. The satisfaction of completing a workout is the best feeling. Plus the endorphins are a bonus!
  9. Results- If you stick to working out you will see results. This is the most rewarding part. You have all the control to make it happen.
  10. Find Inspiration- I am very competitive. When I see other people working out it really inspires me. Find your inspiration!

I love the positive self talk bit. I am a big negative self talker and it can be so draining. 😀

You are such an inspiration to me. Such great advice. Also my 3 year old loves the video of your son planking and at the end of the video he always says "aww hes smiling at me"

Hi babyfitgym! Are you able to tell me what it weekly workouts consist of and if you space them apart? Like do u focus on one muscle group each day/second day? Im trying to devise a weekly without schedule and was hoping for some guidance, thanks

For the first 4-6 weeks of working out I do mostly all full body workouts! I workout 3-4 times a week for 20 minutes. Once I feel like I am in better shape. I do something along the lines of this: Day 1-lower body Day 2- upper body and abs Day3-lower body Day4-Full body. I do a little full body each workout but emphasize on a particular group each day.

Hey Kristy how long did you wait until working out after baby. I'm ready to workout, but I'm afraid of hurting my lady parts?
